7:48 pm - exercise for peace SATURDAY
|
The Marchers For Peace, Ashley and Michael, are almost to Omaha after starting their walk in San Francisco CA. They and NFP would love to have a large group marching with them to Levi Carter Park on Saturday July 14. I hope you can help us by joining them and by getting other people to walk just 7 miles, or less, with these amazing young people. We could have great exposure because we'll pass the Qwest Center, where 25,000 people are expected for the Luis Palau revival!
Saturday morning, July 14, at 9:30 a.m. we will start our Omaha March For Peace in the parking lot near No Frills at Saddle Creek and Cuming Streets. (Look for the people with a banner.) The path to Levi Carter Park that we will follow is: East on Cuming Street to Abbott Drive and then North on Abbott to Carter Blvd which is just west of the Airport exit, once in the park, “turn” left at the Y intersection and walk along the lake to the stone pavilion.
Marchers could join us anywhere between Saddle Creek & Cuming Streets and the entrance of the park at the intersection of Abbott Drive and Carter Blvd. (directly across from the airport exit drive). If you can’t walk the 7 miles, join us along the way!

As Congress debates Iraq War funding this week, a critical vote will take place that can help prevent another war. Senator Jim Webb (D-VA) is offering an amendment to the FY07 supplemental appropriations bill prohibiting use of funds for military operations in Iran without Congressional authorization.
The vote on this important piece of legislation could come up at any time. It's critical that Congress not give the Administration a blank check for another military misadventure. The Administration misled Congress and the American people before the war on Iraq--they must not allow the same thing to happen in Iran.
Please contact your Senators as soon as possible and tell them to support Sen. Webb’s amendment to the FY07 supplemental appropriations bill prohibiting use of funds for military operations in Iran without Congressional authorization. Tell them war is not the answer and the US must engage directly with Iran on nuclear and other critical security issues.

I had the pleasure of hearing Dr. Les Roberts speak tonight. He published the Lancet study estimating Iraqi civilian casualties at 650,000 which is 20 TIMES the US government estimate. WOW he's an awesome speaker. more later.

10:40 pm - feeling exercise
|
I feel like many people around me are having babies and being happy about it. I feel that if I get pregnant my life would be over. I feel excited for California. (23 days!) I feel full from dinner. I feel like I need to drink coffee to be alive sometimes. I feel my enlarged lymph node too much. I really need to get this thing checked out.
I do not feel satisfied with what I have accomplished and what I am doing in the present. I do not feel like an adult. I do not feel like dancing. I do not feel like eating or drinking tea right now. I do not feel that my body is in good enough shape. I do not feel like being social or making small talk almost ever.

8:23 pm - HOORAY!!!

It's official, I'm taking a mini-vacation to Palo Alto, California with my friend Kate. I'm so excited. Tickets are bought, trip approved by curriculum chair, scholarship given (whoo!), bathing suit packed and conference pants ironed (figuratively). There will be much studying on the plane and in between meetings because we'll be taking our final the day after we get back. But, I'm totally going to treat this like a vacation and perhaps network enough to have an interview there in a couple years. That'd be awesome. alright back to work...
And, the founder of Physicians for Social Responsibility was a PATHOLOGIST! yes! This makes me very happy indeed as I want to go into pathology but also want to be in a field where I can have.....social responsibility. I guess pathology makes the cut. awesome!
And, I'm making this conference thing a yearly event.

i just got back from seeing my parents, dog, birds, brother, and cousin in Phoenix. I had a really relaxing time and read two books (novels). It was a great time. I also got to see my maid-o-honor Lauren and her new husband, Nate. AND, I caught up with an old high school friend who's getting her PhD in Environmental Engineering at ASU. It was good to see Ayla again as well. I would LOVE to never experience a cold winter ever again, by the way. to be continued...

I need to go back to India so bad it hurts! In the meantime, some south Indian food for Thanksgiving will suffice. I think I'm going to wrap myself up in my saree and just sit around my house. <3

I went running today and not knowing it was pretty hot outside by then, I put on a long sleeved shirt under my t-shirt. As I was rounding my 4th mile, I was so hot that I couldn't take it anymore. I decided to race ahead of a pedestrian and then change my shirt real quick under the bridge. I'm feeling pretty tired by now and I've passed the walker so I set my I-pod on the ground, along with my inhaler and lift my shirt half way over my head. Then my heart sank, I heard someone say "Whoa!!". Shit. I look in the direction, and behold, ten or so construction workers are across the street, all staring at me. There was one dude in a hole, peeking his head out. SHIT. So I threw my shirt back on, scooped up my i-pod and ran like mad in the other direction, HOT and EMBARRASSED.
